We knew so much about how the ancient Egyptian lived because they painted scenes of everyday life on the walls of the tombs of their kings . They also put the dead kings' possessions in the tombs : Their clothes , jewellery & furniture, & little models of their family & servants . They put food & drinks in the tombs as well because they believed that there was a life after death . To enjoy the next life , a man needed all the things he had on earth, including his body. So, they preserved the body by a process called mummification . |
